Announcing Archmagus APIs
When we began this journey almost exactly a year ago, we had a lot to learn about the process and components of building experiences for modern virtual reality devices. Since that time, we have attended Unreal and GDC conferences, worked quietly on projects for both the Unreal and Unity VR development platforms, explored many game ideas, and in a couple weeks we will be attending Meta Connect in San Francisco to participate in the annual VR conference centered around Meta Quest and other XR platform development and experiences—but that’s a different update.
During this learning period, we discovered that the work platform and game development teams do has a very different flow than the work we had spent many years doing in cloud development. We also saw there were some gaps in the tools available to platform and game developers that required their teams to split their time in both cloud work and platform work, which could be slow and distracting for their core mission.
Enter Archmagus APIs
Today we are excited to announce the release of our first product, which we decided should be a return to cloud development in order to build tools to allow others to build game and platform software faster. Archmagus APIs is our new site that hosts APIs we provide for teams to save them the need to do cloud development to complement their platform work. Our first feature, Meta Attestation API support, allows teams who are building software for the Quest to protect their software from piracy by using our service to ensure that the users running the software have a valid license.
We are, of course, using this service ourselves, and going forward we will continue to build VR experiences as well as look for opportunities to help others by providing cloud support where needed to make everyone’s work go faster. As always, thank you for joining us on this journey.
As ever,
—Justin @ Archmagus
