Quiet but not Idle

…the general who wins a battle makes many calculations in his temple ere the battle is fought. The general who loses a battle makes but few calculations beforehand.

Deepest apologies, dear friends. It has been a minute since we’ve posted, but not because we been idling away our time! After a flurry of activity getting a rough lay of the land in how games are built in 2024 and the state of VR, we have been deep in planning out our course for our first game. We knew virtual reality was an incredibly immersive experience that had a lot of untapped potential to explore, but then what? Game development is typically a years-long endeavor. We needed to come up with a plan that would be our roadmap for the many months ahead, particularly since, if you follow the game industry or wider tech industry, you may have noticed it is a pretty rotten time to be keeping a business afloat right now. Stormy seas upon which to chart a course. Still, we believe the time is right for what we are building, we just have to be a bit more cautious in our planning.

We have been exploring several different kinds of experiences that we could build; planning which ones would make sense to try first, and which would be better to save for when we have had a chance to release some experiences that might take a little less time to build first. Subscribers to our newsletter may recall that we had the concept of a wagon as a main component for a certain game that we were exploring. While that game concept remains close to my heart, we have decided that it falls into the category of a game that should be saved for a future project while we focus on one with a tighter scope for our inaugural release.

We will have more to share soon on where we are focusing and what we are planning. We are still firm believers in giving people fun and immersive VR experiences. We hope you will enjoy what we have in store!

As ever,

Justin @ Archmagus
